This half term we are learning about our locality, identifying key features about where we live and looking at how it has changed over time. We will be learning about Spring time and new beginnings. We will then look at journeys and transport as we begin to learn about places further away. Children will continue to develop their social and emotional skills, leaning to share, take turns and develop positive friendships as well as recognise and persevere when things are challenging. We will continue rewarding good behaviour choices through our behaviour system. We will further develop our vocabulary through carefully chosen texts including Erol's Garden by Gillian Hibbs and develop our conversations through play and in learning; by engaging as an active listener making relevant comments or asking questions and as a speaker by including detail. We will learn about and celebrate Eid and St George's day - . Don't forget to check Evidence Me each week to find out more about what is happening in Reception.
Home Reading- All children in Reception have a clear communication folder which holds their reading diary and weekly books. Children receive 2 books weekly; an independent book marked with an 'I', these are books children should be confident to read without support and a supported book marked with an 'S', these are books you may need to help your child with. Children will also choose a a class library book each week for you to enjoy sharing together for pleasure and to further support the children with their comprehension skills. Please return the communication folder to school each Monday morning with the reading diary and 2 books, these will be returned to you on Tuesday afternoon. We ask that children read each school reading book a minimum of 3 times weekly at home and record these reads in their Reading Diary. There are also additional books shared on Oxford Owl so please see Evidence Me for details.
PE - Reception have PE on a Tuesday. Please send your child to school in their kit on these days - all PE lessons will be outdoors (weather permitting) so you may wish to consider your child having a tracksuit for the day. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
