World Book day in Reception

The children were really excited to share their story book character with their friends and our special visitor from the local library. She shared an  amazing story all about a bear who wants to be a bee and lucky for us we get to take a copy home to share with our family.

Chinese new year

On the menu today in the chinese restaurant we had noodles, rice crackers, egg fried rice and soy sauce. The children enjoyed having a taste and the favourite was definitely the panda biscuits for desert.

Welcome to Arendelle

The children have helped us design their new role play area by printing bricks and cutting crenellations to create a castle.  They have been putting their final touches to crowns and practiced moving around as princesses and knights and even fallen asleep like Sleeping Beauty!  We are now ready if Anna and Elsa come to visit us!

A warm welcome to the parents on a cold day

What a lovely afternoon we had sharing our wintry learning experiences in a fun way with slime, play dough, glittery snowflakes and the cold weather!

Marshmallow snowmen

This week we have been busy writing instructions on how to build  snowman, as we haven’t been able to build a real one outside we did it with tasty marshmallows instead!

Our surprise visitor…

We had a surprise visit from Father Christmas today. He was very happy to hear all of the children were on the good list. The children enjoyed their special gift.

We wish you all a very merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you in the new year. From all of the EYFS team!

Songs around the Christmas Tree

After much anticipation the children finally became superstars on stage.

We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!

Children in Need

What a fantastic day we have had in Reception to raise money for Children in Need! We all came dressed in our best spotty clothes, the Pudsey themed cakes were delicious and we enjoyed making paw print biscuits. In total the whole school raised over £700 for a fantastic cause and we had lots of fun!

Helping the Little Red Hen

This week Reception have been reading all about the Little Red Hen.  We have thought about how she must have felt when her friends did not help!  Unlike the farm animals, the children were brilliant at working as a team, taking turns to mix ingredients before kneeding the dough to make bread rolls.  We heard lots of lovely descriptive language too – “ooh this is so sticky” “it stretches” and “squidgy and soggy”.  We hope they enjoy eating the rolls as much as the Little Red Hen enjoyed eating her bread all by herself!

Autumn walk to the field

We had a great time exploring in the muddy field this afternoon. We were looking out for the signs of autumn, we loved jumping in the fallen leaves.
