Happy New Year

We look forward to welcoming everyone back to Lickey Hills Primary School and Nursery for 2017.

EYFS ‘Songs Around the Christmas Tree’

Beautiful singing and wonderful costumes ! Everyone visiting said how much they enjoyed the Nursery and Reception class performances of old and new Christmas songs. It was great to see everyone joining in and enjoying the opportunity to perform on our stage. I’m sure you’ll hear lots of the songs over again this holiday! Well done EYFS and merry Christmas to you all.

Baubles !

Congratulations to everyone in KS1 for their excellent Christmas performance ‘Baubles’. What a super story you told with your songs, dances and clear, confident voices. Our visiting families and friends passed on many lovely comments about your show. Well done all – a great team effort!

2FT are Poets

Thank you 2FT for sharing your wonderful, creative poetry with me this week. I’ve really enjoyed reading your lovely words and I’m especially impressed with the extra description you’ve put in. I’m looking forward to hearing some of you read the poems to me too as I know you’re working hard on your expressive reading voices. Thank you 🙂

3RB Egyptian Extravaganza!

Well done to everyone in 3RB for your very informative assembly this morning, what a lot of learning you shared with us. I really enjoyed seeing how the Egyptians worked as a team work to build the pyramids and hearing about their clothing. It was lovely to see our new microphones and screen being used – thank you PTA.

EYFS and KS1 Parents – How You Can Help with Early Reading Skills

Thank you to those of you who attended our ‘Phonics Workshop for Parents’ on Monday 26th September. For those of you who were not able to join us the materials are now on the year group pages for YR, Y1 and Y2.  Please have a look and see how we teach our letters and sounds and how you can help your child with their early reading skills.

A Super Sporting Start!

Well done Year 3 and 4 for getting LHPSN off to a great sporting start this year. Read all about the Football team achievements on the PE page of our site.

Lickey Hills Represented in Parliamentary Review

Last year I was contacted by the team at ‘The Parliamentary Review’ and asked to write an article celebrating best practice at Lickey Hills Primary School. LHPSN had come to their attention because of our consistently strong results and the super Ofsted report which highlighted our creative curriculum and increasingly innovative approach.

I thoroughly enjoyed writing the article – what a great opportunity to tell everyone about our fantastic school and the families we serve! The hardest part was undoubtedly trying to keep to 1,000 words, I’m sure I could have written a whole book about our teaching and learning at Lickey. After several drafts and some difficult decisions about what not to include, I finally submitted the finished article in August.

Towards the end of August I received an invitation for myself and our Chair of Governors, Mario Claydon, to attend an evening at the Houses of Parliament representing Lickey Hills Primary school. On Friday 23rd September we attended the Parliamentary Review Gala evening along with a small number of other schools from the Midlands area and received the final published document. We will shortly receive copies in school to share with you. It was a pleasure to represent Lickey Hills Primary School, I am so proud of our achievements here.

I very much look forward to another year working in partnership with governors, our dedicated staff and wonderful children to ensure education at LHPSN is memorable and accessible for all. Thank you everyone for your input into our super school we are definitely dreaming, believing and achieving our goals together.
