We have been learning all about healthy foods. We considered what healthy foods a Superhero might eat and designed our own Superhero fruit smoothies.

I have discovered a scheme that Sainsburys are currently running, which will support learning in Geography. Cards are given to you each time you shop and there is a collection book, which has many interesting facts. What great alternative to football/Pokemon collection cards!

1AP did so well this morning during their class assembly and made the Year 1 teachers very proud!! We shared all of our learning about our amazing bodies and sang and danced beautifully. Well done 1AP for remembering all of your words and saying them so loud and clear! Excellent job. 

Today in DT  we  made rainbow bags, with a little pot of gold hidden away ! We enjoyed using shading techniques to colour some shamrocks too.

Today in science we thought about animals that might live in our school garden.We talked about what they might need to survive. We learnt that a habitat needs to provide an animal with food and shelter. So we went into the garden and with our partners created these wonderful homes. We are looking forward to going back to see if anyone has moved it !

We made homes for hedgehogs, ants, birds, ladybirds and worms. Mrs Green had great fun trying to catch the frogs and newts so we could look at them more closely.

We are really enjoying our exciting maths lessons in maths week this week! Today we used our maths skills to help us make pizza. We weighed out the ingredients first, rolled our base into a circle, a square or a triangle and then chopped some toppings to go on top. We also spent the morning playing maths games. We had lots of fun playing bingo and completing lots of maths challenges with our friends in 1MH. 

Today in Science we investigated why we need 2 eyes. We got into partners and one of us put a cup onto the table and slowly moved a coin above it. Our partner closed one eye and judged when the coin was over the cup and said ‘drop it!’ so the penny dropped into the cup. Then we tried with both eyes open. We found out it was much easier to do with both eyes open.

Today, dressed in our PJs and slippers we have had so much fun celebrating World Book Day. First we told each other what our books were about but with out revealing the titles. We chose a book that we liked the sound of. Then we unwrapped it !!

What a lovely surprise we had.

We shared our books with each other and enjoyed listening to stories too. Finally, in true bedtime fashion , we enjoyed some hot chocolate and toast.

Maizie told us that her book was about a naughty little school girl .

Unwrapping the books .

1AP have really enjoyed celebrating World Book Day. We have had lots of fun swapping books with our friends in our ‘not judging a book by its cover’ theme. We gave our friends a little clue about our wrapped up books and swapped with each other. We loved opening them up and seeing the surprise book inside! This afternoon we had hot chocolate and toast and snuggled up to read some of our favourites together. 

In Literacy we have been learning to write questions so when Mr Gandesha the Dentist came to talk to us we were ready to ask  him all about teeth and all about his job in order to learn more !!

We enjoyed guessing who these teeth belonged to.

We had fun sorting the foods into,  good for your teeth and bad for your teeth baskets.

We all know how to brush our teeth properly now.

We made teeth out of playdough and practised brushing them properly afterwards.
