We had a very informative morning today in Year 1! Dr De La Pena spent the morning with us talking to us about his job and answering all of our questions. He talked about the different types of Doctors, how they help us and the tools they use. We had the chance to use his stethoscope, listening to our lungs and our heart beat. 

Year 1 and  year 2 enjoyed our afternoon of making the props and resources to decorate our Feed the Read room. Over the holiday there are plans to add the book shelves, re locate the power sockets and finally set up this wonderful resource. We hope to start using it fully next half term.

This afternoon we have been busy making a life size Willy Wonka to greet us each morning.

We got very messy with newspaper ,glue  and a balloon to model his head.

In Literacy this week we have really enjoyed writing riddles. Here we are  busy working with our learning partners to  write a riddle about a fruit. We enjoyed asking our friends to solve them.

Fabulous writing boys and girls. Next we are going to add even more adjectives and similes to make them even better.

We’ve had a lovely morning working with our learning partners to play 2D shape dominoes. We matched the number of corners and sides to the correct shape. Once we had finished we had a go at making our own 3D shape dominoes game!

Today in Maths we constructed 2D and 3D shapes using sticks and blutac. We counted the number of sides or edges the shape had and knew we needed that many sticks to make the shape. Look how well we did…

This afternoon we have really enjoyed using all 5 of our senses. We have done taste experiments and guessed what flavour crisps we have eaten, smelt lots of interesting smells in smelly pots, felt different things in feely bags, used our sight to spot things in pictures and used our hearing to guess what sounds we have listened to.

I am so proud of the children in 1MH. We had a fabulous PE lesson today creating basic body shapes.

After our preparation this morning we followed the dinosaur signs and walked to the dinosaur stomp! Whilst we were there we ate our biscuits, drank our delicious swamp punch and did the dinosaur conga!! 

Today in Year 1 we held a Dinosaur Stomp! This morning we prepared by making dinosaur biscuits, making swamp punch and making dinosaur masks to wear to our party this afternoon! Then we composed pieces of music in teams to play at our Dinosaur Stomp. 

This afternoon year 1 became Paleontologists! We hunted for bones in the sand using paintbrushes to carefully clean them, and then put them back together to make a dinosaur! We also excavated chocolate chips from cookies using cocktail sticks, it was very tricky! We sorted dinosaurs into groups and had a go at sketching fossils millions of year old.
