This morning we all went outside and made the most of the snow!! We made footprint patterns in the snow, rolled snowballs around the playground, and worked together to put the snowballs together to make snowmen!

Today in Science we investigated the best way to melt ice. We used salt, warm water, the radiator, different tools and our body heat. We worked in teams to see which team melted the ice the quickest. The warm water worked the best and inside the ice we found lots of hidden jewels!

What a fun maths lesson we had today! We learnt all about the word ‘estimation’. We found a partner and estimated how many cubes they had put into a jar. Then we counted them to see if we were right. Afterwards we estimated how many cubes long different parts of our bodies were. We estimated the length of our hands, feet, arms and legs! We all made super sensible estimations. 

We were so lucky in Year 1 today… we had a visit from Santa!! He answered lots of our questions and gave us all a little present as we are all on the good list!! Afterwards we enjoyed our Christmas lunch in the hall with our friends. 

We are so proud of our wonderful Year 1s for their amazing dancing, singing and performing during our Christmas production! Well done Year 1, we are very proud!

We marked Remembrance day on Friday by making our own poppies. We learnt why we wear poppies and what we remember on Remembrance day. We followed the instructions to make a poppy, look how well we did… 

Today in Maths we learnt how to half shapes. We had a go at cutting some fruits in half and making sure both parts were the same size. We have bought our halves of fruit home to eat this evening! 

We had a lovely afternoon in Year 1 today! We designed our own chocolate bars using pictures and labels. Then, we could go to the kitchen to melt chocolate and choose lots of yummy ingredients to go in our own chocolate bar. We could choose marshmallows, cherries, biscuits or raisins. They are setting in the fridge tonight then we can bring them home tomorrow! 

In Science last week we predicted what would happen if we held cubes of chocolate in warm water. We made predictions and then investigated what happened. It went soft and squishy in our hands, but by the time we took it home it had set! 

What a fun afternoon!!! We spent the afternoon constructing, connecting and fixing tubes and boxes together to make wonderful chocolate factories! We used string and sellotape and did so well to carefully think about the purpose of each box and tube!
