KS2 Language Base
Mr Stead
Mrs Underhill
Welcome to the LB2 web page.
On this page you can find:
- Class information including spellings and home learning;
- Information about our curriculum and learning, including an overview of our current topic.
Within Lickey Hills Language Base, each curriculum area is adapted to the needs of the current cohort of pupils. This creates a flexible and bespoke curriculum which changes annually. Additionally, many Language Base pupils access mainstream classes for some areas of the curriculum. Visit the mainstream Year Group pages for curriculum overviews.
English - Our writing in English will be inspired by the brilliant book 'The Green Ship' by Quentin Blake. Our focus in writing will be on spelling, punctuation and grammar.
Reading - We will continue to practise our retrieval and inference skills using extracts from ‘The Day the Crayons Quit’ by Drew Daywalt.
Maths - Y3 will be learning about place value, finding number patterns and addition and subtraction. Y4 are looking at numbers to 10000, using place value and addition and subtraction within 10000. The Y5 topics in Maths are reading and writing numbers to 1000000
Geography - Our geography topic is Magnificent Mountains. We will be learning about mountains and volcanoes to see how they are formed and where they are in the world.
Science - In Science we will be finishing our topic ‘Remarkable Rocks’, following with 'Amazing Anatomy'.

Spellings will be sent out on Wednesdays to practice at home before the tests on the following Monday. Current spellings will be stuck in their red spelling book that the children take home.
Maths homework (usually based on times tables and number facts) are also set on Wednesday and due back by the following Monday. Your child will also have their TTRS (Times Table Rockstar) username and password stuck in their communication book and maths home learning book for them to practice. We also strongly encourage the children to read at least three times a week at home for 20 minutes a time.
Please make sure you have your PE kits in school for our sporting activities: Please send your child to school in their kit on their PE day - where PE lessons are outdoors, you may wish to consider your child having a tracksuit for the day.
Y3 Monday and Wednesday; Y4 - Swimming Wednesday and PE Friday; Y5 Monday and Thursday; Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
