Spring term continues with our ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ theme where we will now learn about Spring and new beginnings and our locality. We will also learn about the different celebrations and events: World Book Day, Comic Relief, Eid, Mother's Day and Easter.
Our chosen key text is ‘Errols Garden’ by Gillian Hibbs, where we will develop empathy and understanding for the character, connect with nature in our local environment and recognise the importance of plants, trees and flowers as well as consider the positive impact we can make together in our local community.
Children receive two books each week: an independent book marked with an 'I', which are books children should be confident to read without support and a supported book marked with an 'S', where there may be a few words that you may need to help your child with. Children will also choose a class library book each week for you to enjoy sharing together. This one is ideal to further support your child with their comprehension skills.
Please return the communication folder every Monday morning with the reading diary and books so that they can be returned to you each Tuesday afternoon. We ask that children read each reading book over at least three days each week. Please make sure you clearly indicate in your reading diary that you have done this. There are also additional books shared on Oxford Owl so please see Evidence Me for details.
PE - Reception has PE on a Tuesday. Please send your child to school in their kit on these days. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
