Welcome to Year 3! In 3VE you will find Miss Evans and in 3SB you will find Mrs Brooks. 

Helping children across both classes, you will find the wonderful Mrs Hemming.

Learning in Unit 1:

To begin our year, in Unit 1, we will be learning all about the Stone Age in our History lessons. We will find out when the Stone Age was including the 3 different periods, how people survived and become experts in archaeological evidence. In other areas of the curriculum, we will become confident with place value and addition and subtraction within Maths as well as investigating the differences in different types of rocks and how they are made in Science. Our reading and writing will be inspired by the brilliant book Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister. Our focus in writing will be identifying and being able to use the features of a persuasive letter. Alongside all of this we will be thinking about the question of 'What do Christians learn from the Creation story?' in RE and in Music we will be learning about the composer Vivaldi. In Art we will be using the work of Vincent Van Gogh to inspire our own self portraits. Lastly we will be participating in Gymnastics and Hockey in PE. 

Spellings will be tested on a Monday. Current spellings can be found online and will also be given out. Maths home learning is sent home on a Wednesday and due back by the following Monday. We expect all children to be reading at least 3 times a week at home. 

Year 3 have PE and Games on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please send your children in their PE kit on these days and make sure all earrings are either removed or covered.
