Learning in Unit 4:
Within Unit 4, we will comparing the USA to the UK. In particular we will focus on the physical features of Nevada (Mojave Desert) and Birmingham. We will also look at the purposes of different image types and the location of different settlements. In other areas of the curriculum, we will become confident counting money as well as finding the amount of change needed. Additionally, we will be able to tell the time, compare time and find different durations. In science, we will investigate shadows and reflections and explain why we need to protect ourselves from the sun. Our reading and writing will be inspired by the brilliant book I was a Rat by Philip Pullman. Our focus in writing will be identifying and being able to use the writing features to write a non-chronological report. Alongside all of this we will be thinking about the question of 'Why do christians call the day Jesus died Good Friday?' in RE. In D&T we will be learning all about healthy eating and will make fruit muffins! Lastly we will be participating in Outdoor Adventurous Activity (OAA) and improving our fundamental skills in PE.
Spellings will be tested on a Monday. Current spellings can be found online and will also be given out. Maths home learning is sent home on a Wednesday and due back by the following Monday. We expect all children to be reading at least 3 times a week at home. Please also make sure you access Times Table Rock Stars at home to become more confident with your multiplication and division facts.
Year 3 have PE and Games on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please send your children in their PE kit on these days and make sure all earrings are either removed or coveredSpellings-Spring-Two-Unit-4-1.pdf
