Learning in Unit 3:
To begin our Spring term, in Unit 3, we will continue to learn about the progression from The Stone Age to The Iron age, including The Bronze Age. This will include learning when The Iron and Bronze age were and what life was like then. We will investigate how tools and settlements changed through the periods of time and what impact this had. In other areas of the curriculum, we will consolidate our multiplication and division skills within Maths as well as becoming confident at measuring and calculating length and mass. In science, we will identify what a light source is, how shadows are formed and how they can change. Our reading and writing will be inspired by the brilliant book The Bluest of Blues by Fiona Robinson. Our focus in writing will be identifying and being able to use the writing features to inform. Alongside all of this we will be thinking about the question of 'How do festivals and family life show what matters to Jewish people?' in RE. In art we will be learning all about landscape paintings and the artist Claude Monet. Lastly we will be participating in Yoga and improving our ball skills in PE.
Spellings will be tested on a Monday. Current spellings can be found online and will also be given out. Maths home learning is sent home on a Wednesday and due back by the following Monday. We expect all children to be reading at least 3 times a week at home. Please also make sure you access Times Table Rock Stars at home to become more confident with your multiplication and division facts.
Year 3 have PE and Games on Mondays and Wednesdays. Please send your children in their PE kit on these days and make sure all earrings are either removed or coveredYear-3-Spellings-Spring-One.pdf
