Welcome to Year 4!
This half term, we will look at the information text 'Penguins' by Penelope Arlon and Tory Gordan Harris . We will be looking at the features of this type of text and are using this to create our own. In reading we will be looking at the text 'Cakes in Space' and will also continue our retrieval and inference skills by looking at different extracts from this book each week. In Maths we will be learning about fractions and time.
In Geography we will be exploring the topic ‘ The UK vs Italy' where we will be exploring and comparing Human and physical features of both places.
As the MTC takes place in Year 4, we will be practising all times tables on a daily basis becoming familiar with the more challenging ones! Please practise these using 'Times Tables Rock Stars' three times a week. Please follow the link below:

In RE, we will be looking at Christianity and exploring the Easter story.
In DT we will be laerning about a balanced diet and the importance of carbohydrates. We will then we designing and making our own healthy snacks. In Science, we will look at ‘digestion’ and will be investigating our teeth and why they are different shapes.
Current spellings can be found online on the link to the right. Maths home learning is set on Wednesdays and due back by the following Monday. We also strongly encourage the children to read at home. New books will be sent out on a Friday and will be expected on a Wednesday with Reading Journals.
Please make sure you have your PE kits in school for our sporting activities. Both Year 4 classes will have PE on a Friday until further notice. Swimming will be on Wednesdays where the children also come dressed in their PE kits. Please make sure all earrings are removed or covered with tape before school on these days.
